Valuation Help Needed on a RAPID 7

    Evening folks,

I need help with a ballpark valuation on a RAPID MkI, in .22 flavour please guys. I’m a springer guy so have no knowledge of what these guns are worth.

It’s not mine, it belongs to an extended family member who bought it second hand back in the early 2000’s, used it a few times in the back garden with the grand idea of using it for hunting, but as we all know, securing land to hunt over is as hard as flying to the moon in a rocket made of blancmange!

So, its sat in its bag under the bed ever since then.

It comes with a 12ltr bottle, which I guess is now out of test, as like the rifle its just sat still and been used only a few times.

I’ve got some pictures (see links below), and having handled the gun myself, and fired it today, it’s in amazing condition. It does have an original magazine.

I would assume that as its sat still for so long that its going to need a service, does anyone have any idea what sort of cost we are looking at for that ?

It has a Nikko Sterling Platinum WA 6x45 30/30 scope onboard, which is like new, quite a classic looking piece of kit.

What sort of value does this rifle have, and is it best to offer it up for sale on here or would we be better selling to a dealer ?

    Thanks in advance.

The gun will fetch £550 - £650 maybe a bit more. 50 quid for the bottle and maybe 30 -40 quid for the scope.

To sell it quick as a package, £650 is about right.

At £650 it would probably sell in a day, It's very clean so I doubt it will take more than a week to sell at £700
You'll get more on here than a dealer will offer because they need to make their 20% profit.

The Rapid fan boys will be all over that like a rash and some will pay silly money. I would pitch it at £750 & wait a bit. The scope is quite sought after too.

that scope is actually a very nice piece of kit in it's own right, probably worth £60

    I would estimate 700-750 as a package.

Thanks guys, your assistance is very much appreciated.

I'm gonna have a word with the seller and let him know what you think, it's up to him then.

    Thanks again.

Forgot to mention, we discovered whilst looking over it today that it is in fact a .20 not a .22

No idea whether that makes any difference to what it's worth, either less or more, but I guess it makes it a bit more rare.

Makes a hell of difference. Add another 50 to 100 quid on.

Rapids have a huge following. The hardest thing is to find one unmolested and in good order. A good few were sold, but no more will be made. The only limitation on price is that the odd good one do turn up, and what else might be bought? All the above advice, though its a rifle that will keep appreciating.

Your example may well demand a hansom premium price, so hold out for that. The extras just add to the appeal as does being a .20. Nice one.

It can work both ways, there are less .20's out there so it could make it more desirable,
otoh the reason there are less .20's is because lots of traditionalists point blank will not try it.
So yes maybe makes it £750 but to a slightly smaller market, although easy enough to change the cal (if you can find the parts )

Cheers guys. I knew there was a bit of following for these rifles but didn't realise they held their price so well.

I've passed on all your info and just found out that there may well be a buyer within the family, so keeping it close to home would be nice, just depends on what gets worked out price wise.

Your comments have helped a lot, the seller now knows what he's got, and the potential buyer knows what he's getting, it's just up to them to sort out a figure now.

    Thanks again for your help.

ps Sorry to anyone who maybe thought it might end up in the sales section here but it looks like its staying in the family, for now anyway.
