    2022 Jan-June MPL Competition Rules.

The Muscle Power League Rules have not changed much ever since we started - but we do have a small number of additions, and repeating these rules at the start of each new MPL season is something we have always been asked to do - so here they are again!

There will be no major changes to the previous rules BUT we no longer supply the targets and we have REDUCED the entry fee from £10 to £5 as most previous entrants already had targets or preferred to buy their own.

We will continue to run a competition for .177 MPL air pistol and another for .177 MPL air rifle. MPL airguns are those that need "Muscle Power" (ie effort) to cock them and include spring powered and single stroke pneumatic airguns.

We are also adding some competitions for .177 PCP powered airguns. CO2 powered airguns can also be entered in the PCP competitions as both use compressed gas and shoot in a similar manner.

ALL 2022 MPL Competitions are to be shot with OPEN SIGHTS or DIOPTER SIGHTS (on rifles) ONLY

2022 MPL POSTAL COMPETITION DETAILS and RULES

The 6 yard MPL Air Pistol Competition is for .177 spring powered air pistols and is to be shot STANDING and SINGLE HANDED.

The 6 yard OPEN Air Pistol Competition is for any type of legal .177 air pistols and is to be shot STANDING and SINGLE HANDED.

The 6 yard MPL Air Rifle Competition is for .177 spring powered air rifles and is to be shot UNSUPPORTED and in the STANDING POSITION.

The 10 metre OPEN Air Pistol Competition is for .177 air pistol and is to be shot STANDING and SINGLE HANDED.

The 10 metre OPEN Air Rifle Competitions is for .177 air rifle and is to be shot UNSUPPORTED and in the STANDING POSITION.

The following Supported Competition is to be shot to the existing ISSF rules. https://www.issf-sports.org/getfile...._-_Edition.pdf

The 10 meter Supported Air Rifle competition is OPEN for all .177 air rifles to be shot STANDING whilst resting on a 50mm Maximum diameter hard round bar.

Details of Supported Shooting can be found here :- https://www.issf-sports.org/getfile...._-_Edition.pdf

    TARGETS.

    PELLETS.

    BB's
...and any pellet other than .177 calibre are specifically banned from this competition.

    SHOOTING and SCORING

    1. Six targets need to be shot each month with 5 shots on each = total possible score of 300 ex 300.

    2. All pistol targets are to be shot single handed (unsupported).

    3. All air rifle targets have to be shot from the free standing position with no supports.

    4. Supported Air Pistol Shooting targets are to be shot from the standing position on a hard 50mm (maximum diameter) bar. ONLY the base of the pistol grip may touch the bar. (see the BBS thread on Supported Shooting for more details).

    5. Supported Air Rifle Shooting targets are to be shot from the standing position on a hard 50mm (maximum diameter) bar. ONLY the front underside of the rifle may touch the bar. (see the BBS thread on Supported Shooting for more details)

    6. The targets can be shot at any time during the month, but it is the shooters responsibility to ensure the scores are emailed to the scorer ( TO BE ADVISED) before the end of each competition month - or as soon as possible if you are running late or if you enter the competition after it has already started.

Submit your score in the format as shown below:-

Name/BBS name/Month/Competition/x6 target scores and total ex 300/airgun used/pellets used.

    P.Smith (smiffee) January 2022 MPL Air Pistol. 38 + 34 + 37 + 41 + 44 + 39 = 233. GAMO Centre. Hobby pellets.

Please score your own targets accurately and honestly and submit your scores (in monthly blocks as shown in the above example) by the end of each month to Paul at mplscores@yahoo.com

4/.You should keep your cards safe for 2 months after they are shot as some may be requested for random checking. Any requested cards should be posted to us, and if they are not available they will be given a zero score.

5/. Anyone who scores a perfect 50 ex 50 needs to take a picture of the card and send it to mplscores@yahoo.com and zooma@kingcobra.co.uk .....so you can show it off .....and we can see how it should be done!

LATE ENTRIES will be accepted at any time prior to 30th June 2022.

    HOW TO ENTER

The entry fee has been REDUCED to £5.00 per entry. You need to supply your own targets of the appropriate type.

You can enter as many of the competitions as you like (ie Air Rifle and Air Pistol etc) - each one has the same £5.00 entry fee. You can even enter the same competition more than once if you like - maybe to shoot each with a different airgun to compare your scores.

Please send your entry DETAILS (with your BBS name and your location) to Bob (zooma here on the BBS), either by PM or by sending an email to zooma@kingcobra.co.uk.

Please send your entry PAYMENT using any of the methods described below:-

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY ENTRY HAS BEEN RECEIVED?

A list of received entries will be made here on the BBS by myself and updated when your entry fee and your BBS name and your address location has been correctly received.

Please check to make sure that I have shown your entry (or entries) in the correct competitions and let me know if I have made a mistake.

If you have entered, paid the £5 fee per entry/per event, and supplied your BBS name and your location correctly it will be displayed. If you have done this and your name is not shown - please contact zooma@kingcobra.co.uk.

The MPL series is promoted and organised by myself and other non-paid volunteers on behalf of the Rossendale Target Club - a small club in Rossendale Lancashire, to help it survive and keep the doors open.

Please check here to see if I have received your entry - and to make sure that I have put your entry in the right class!

If you have paid for your entry and your name has not been coloured green - please let me know.

If you name has not turned green its because we have not received your paid entry fee yet.

Good luck - and enjoy your MPL excuse to play target shooting more often than you would if you had not entered!

    MPL Contact

    Hello Zooma,

Although most of the members of my club use PCP airguns some do use other airguns and I would like to pass on the MPL competition details to our members who shoot standing and supported with break barrel or lever cocking guns to them.

    Thank you,

    Roger

    Thank you Roger,

We would welcome any members of your cub who would like to take part in any of our 6 yard or 10 meter Air Pistol or Air Rifle postal competitions.

The MPL has events for any PCP, CO2, SSP, or Spring Powered Air Pistol and Air Rifle so we should have something to suite any target airgun shooter.

    Many thanks for your interest.

It is really encouraging to receive some interest for the MPL postal competition from overseas airgun shooters and very nice to have received an entry from the USA and Poland.

The 10 meter ISU air pistol and air rifle targets seem to be universal world-wide and so most people will be able to find them in most countries, but the 6 yard distance is the original and classic shooting distance for airguns in the UK, and targets for this shorter distance may not be so easy to find in some other countries.

The following basic information for the 6 yard targets may be helpful when checking "locally available" comparable alternative targets that could be used when it is not possible to find or buy any of the NSRA 6 yard targets:-

The NSRA Reference Number for the 6 yard air pistol target is "Air 8".

The black area of the target measures approximately 30.5mm across its diameter and is the "7" scoring ring.

The "8" scoring ring is approximately 21.5mm across its diameter.

The "9" scoring ring is approximately 13mm across.

The "10 scoring ring is approximately 4.5mm across.

The NSRA Reference Number for the 6 yard air rifle target is "Air 7".

The black area of the target measures approximately 16mm across its diameter and it is the "7" scoring ring.

The "8" scoring ring measures approximately 10.5mm across its diameter.

The "9" scoring ring measures approximately 6mm across.

The "10" scoring "dot" is harder to measure but it is approximately 1mm across.

All the above measurements are approximate and taken on my plastic ruler - but they may be a helpful reference if trying to compare them with any locally available 6 yard targets.

    I hope this helps.

    Bob.

    Not too late to enter?

    Hi,
I’ve just (hopefully) repaired an FAS604 I bought a couple of years ago.
Is there still time for me to enter the 6 yard MPL pistol comp?
    Cheers
    Matt

Thanks to everyone who has entered and supported this postal competition.

Most have already paid, but some of us still need to part with that precious fiver per entry to get started

If you have entered and your name has not been turned to GREEN on the entry list shown above, then I have not seen your entry fee payment yet - so please check the list and let me know if I have missed your payment or to advise me (PM or email) that you have now done so now.

The competition has now started (just) but it is still possible to enter at any time during the course of the competition - so if you have any friends, club mates or neighbours that show an interest please let them know about this.

    Stay safe,

    Bob.
