For Sale: A 1978 ORIGINAL MOD.6 recoilless air pistol:

    FOR SALE:

An 'ORIGINAL MOD. 6' recoilless target air pistol, date stamped 11.78 on the cylinder. These were advertised in the JLS Arms catalogue of 1978 where they retailed at £61.50 !

That is the equivalent of £308 today. Not to be confused with the Recoiling Mod.5.

This example is in excellent original condition, full blued finish throughout, sights all complete of course. Brown one piece stock/grip. The pistol cocks and fires sweetly with an excellent trigger pull, and obviously no recoil, though the power is low, so perhaps needs a new spring or a re-lube?

    Price is £130 + £7 post.

Is the the one with a front globe or the barrel sleeve that rotates?

Brown (plastic) stock should mean it’s the 6. The rotating barrel shroud 6M was based on the later alu-frame 5/6 series guns, introduced in… November 1978. So from the description, this sounds like one of the very last plastic-frame 5s or 6s made.

As Geezer suggests, my example is the earlier pistol which has a dark brown moulded plastic grip, with 'chequered' pistol grip, and the target tunnel foresight that allows the interchangeable elements to be fitted, and fully adjustable rear sight, as featured on the Original air rifles of the same period.
