    ETALON digital calliper

Bit of a shot in the dark, but does anyone happen to have a Swiss made "Etalon" calliper? I need to change the battery (CR2032) in mine and can't for the life of me see how to get the old one out.

Looking at the Tesa 'Etalon' digital callipers on the internet, it looks like they have a round door with a slot in to the right of the display that unscrews or is rotated away from the main body.

Unfortunately I only have experience with Mitutoyo equipment.

On these, the battery compartment has a cover that slides off.

Thanks Paul, but that doesn't do it on mine. There is a cover on the right hand end of the unit, which comes off to reveal the battery, "end on", but there is no clearance anywhere to get a grip on it and extract it. I have had it for about 20 years, so I must have changed the battery in the past, but my ancient brain doesn't recall how.

Tap it on something to see if the battery drops out or maybe use a magnet.
often with button batteries it just needs flipping out with a pin.

Some of those battery holders have a bit that you push on the edge of the battery to raise the opposite edge.

Thank you, a rare earth magnet and it just popped out. Lovely clear display now restored, isn't this forum wonderful.
