    Baikal IZH-53

What sort of power should a healthy Baikal IZH-53 make ?
I have been asked to look at one and i just want to have an idea of what realistic performance is before i start.

These are some of the results I got with mine, but I had fitted a Delrin guide and smoothed/polished every thing that touched anything else.

    RWS Super H-Point 6,9gr ave. = 400fps

    H&N Econ II 7.48gr ave. = 403fps

    H&N Excite Hammer 7.87gr ave. = 385fps

    Field Target Trophy 8.64gr ave. = 353fps

    Hope this helps.
Too many guns, or not enough time?

Thank you, that is exactly what i was looking for.
I had a quick look at this one, it's only doing around 250fps with RWS Hobby' and a very rough and twangy shot cycle.

Mine struggled to make a pellet exit the barrel at first

Breech seal was nicked from new

Added a chopped down 14mm diameter spring guide from a Remington Express, added a new breech seal, put a pair of 5p's inside the piston and upgraded the piston seal and now it's doing 2.4 ft/lb with RWS R10 7g but oddly with RWS Hobby 7g it only does 1.5 ft/lb

I sometimes find Hobby's skirt can be a bit tight in the breech of some guns, try seating the pellets a bit deeper.
