After 40 Years of Springers looking for my first PCP

Finally decided to look into getting a PCP for the first time.

I am planning to trade or sell a HW97K and Original 45

So far the Contenders are the Gamo GX40 - Hatsan Flash QE - ATA Airbourne

What else would you suggest is worth considering in that price bracket?

Defo something along the lines of a Air arms s410/ 200 / 510, possibly a bsa ultra

Changing your mind and sticking with the springers.

Wouldnt get the ata airborne, mines about to go back for the 3rd time to have the seals done and im having a refund. Im not the only one ive read online.
The bsa ultra is excellent, also a s410/s200.
Older webley fx2000, falcon fn's/prairies, sorted bsa super10s. Only mentioned then as the older stuff still keeps up with the new stuff, but they would be roughly in the same price bracket which is the only reason ive not mentioned a rapid 7.
    The choice is endless.

I resisted buying a PCP for years, and after a dalliance with the springer-esque BSA Firebird and a BSA Hornet (didn't like the two-part loading faff) I bought a single-shot BSA Scorpion.

It's got a lovely trigger, is blisteringly accurate, very simple and named after a BSA springer. Nice thick BSA barrel only supported at the breech, easy loading and do not intend to ever buy another PCP - it does everything well.

The only irritating thing about it was having to get 'weird-width' BSA scope rail mounts, but ordered a set of BLKs and that was solved.

    I recommend one of them.

I bought an ATA airborne a week before Christmas. Liked the look of it and I've never had a 'bottle' pcp before. Sadly it started leaking a few days later so took it back after the festivities and swapped it for another. So far so good. It's very accurate and spending a bit of time adjusting the trigger gave me a light very crisp pull.

My only concern would be if you don't want to shoot it off a bench. (that's the only way I shoot these days) I'ts very heavy and very big and the bottle at the front would make a good fire extinguisher if it was filled with CO2! Don't get me wrong, I bought it for a a benchrest target rifle and it'll be good for that.

If you want a non specific use rifle then imo you can't beat an Air Arms A400/410. Prolific S/H and always available new. Very nice to handle and shoot and the quality is top notch. A bit long in the tooth but so what? It works- very well!

I'd go second hand, take a mate, and get something a bit better along with a charging cylinder and scope - you need to think of your whole budget here, not just the gun

The Gamo GX 40 was the best new out of box pcp I bought ..... full uk power, accurate, reliable

I do prefer my BSA Scorpian, that was JB Blueprinted .....though I like MMC cocking too

I'd not trade in the Original 45 though - a real classic 'airgun that feels like an airgun'
Looking for TO-6 Trigger unit unmessed with or T0-6 kit for 34
