The Boxing Day shoot at Nomads is one of the events we most look forward to. By tradition, it has never been held on Boxing Day, and also by tradition, the club supplies free food, hot drinks, and raffle prizes for all, supplemented by prizes brought by attendees.

The weather was far from promising. I think it’s two weeks since we last saw any sunshine here on Berrow Hill and, with high humidity, and a fair amount of rain, the ground was wet and rather soft. Admittedly light rain started around 9:00am and stuck around for most of the day, and the maybe 10KPH east wind was quite enough to cause problems. Not that any of this dampened the spirits of those on site.

Neil Palmer was out on his own in the open class with an outstanding 58, followed by James McLachlan on 54, and Sam Hemmings taking third place on count back with 53. The springer class was much the same, with Perry Broad on 48, five points clear of second place Chris Whale, himself one point ahead of Dave Gallichan and Nick Stangate on 43.

And so to the thanks. In chronological order; the course setters, John and Lee for arranging the food, and our new official maestro of the barbeque Andy for preparing it so splendidly. Thanks to those who travelled so far (Scotland, Essex, Lancashire, Derby and Wales) to be with us today – we really do appreciate it. Thanks to all who helped get everybody parked up, then safely on their way.

The course will be open to shoot on Sunday 2nd. January 2022.
