Pillar bedding a spring rifle

What are people's thoughts or observations on pillar bedding a spring rifle rifle action and stock?

Funnily enough was thinking about this today. My instinct is that pillar bedding might be putting too much strain on parts of the stock, depending on the rifle.
Glass bedding might be more fruitful, and I have heard of people fitting a layer of neoprene to obtain a similar but lesser effect.

I have used Permatex RTV silicone mastic to bed springers, and the results seemed fine.

( Material applied along fore-end channel, and selected areas around the rear screw section )

What I'd seen done for air rifles was the use of thin neoprene strips in the in letting , I've seen the use of various in powder burners. The silicon rtv is a new one to me?

Just be careful with RTV silicone, some of them use acetic acid (vinegar) to promote fast curing.

I put isopon inside my HW77's CS1000 stock. I put cling film over the action (with the trigger unit removed) and squeezed it in. I also shimmed the hole which the lug nut thing fits into. The zero has been stable since and it was all pretty easy.

Would sugru work? Mouldable putty… spread… maybe cling film on top, fit action and leave 24 hours!?

Although would you notice a difference against a decent tune?

It would probably work but be a bit expensive in the quantities need.

Pillar bedded my two rifles and only use one bolt now. It's nice to be able to put it into the stock and remove it without any zero shift.
