Does any member reload for a 6.5 Grendel?

If any member reloads for a 6.5 Grendel? I would be interested in what loads etc they are using.

    Thanks.

I presume not many replies as it is not a common round over here as more popular Stateside on the AR platform

Laurie Holland has commented /posted on this round on various UK websites

    Many thanks for the links.
I have corresponded with Laurie, gave excellent info and advice on this calibre.

    6.5 grendel

No, because he has a Howa mini Mauser model and I have a CZ 527 MTR, so different in some respects.
I've been experimenting with all the usual variables i.e. powder load, powder type, seating distance etc etc.
A lot of variables as with any new rifle to ascertain the best combination, great fun and I find this part so interesting.
I've just bought some "improved" PPU cases to see how they perform, about 2/3's of Lapua price for 100 cases.

I see what you mean about the brass price

You could try this as a source of cheaper quality lapua

    6.5 Grendel

That's a very interesting link, of course that calibre is where Bill Alexander developed the 6.5 Grendel from.
I'll have to consider about the primer pocket issue and find the cost of that calibre, interesting forum as well,I've nether seen it before.

At the moment I have 100 Lapua cases fired about 3-4 times and have bought the 100 PPU "improved" cases.
The PPU are reported to be "improved" in various parts of the case to give good use, whether they compare to Lapua cases long term will be interesting to find out?

I expect that you have used PPU cases in your calibres, I've always found them to be good, in fact I was preparing some PPU cases in 6.5 x 55 for my Swede last night.
    Thanks again for the info.

PS. Just had a look at the Kranks price for Russian 7.62 x 39, it's £47-00 per 100 compared to £62-00 per 100 for the Grendel.

In that case with those prices I would stick to ‘official’ cases

    6.5 Grendel

I had a Ruger No. 1 I rebarreled to 6.5 Grendel a few years ago. I found the best powder to be VitN530 using either Sierra 123 MK or Hornady 123 AMAX.

I used Lapua cases, CCI450 primers and Murom SMR.

Best accuracy with that barrel was around 2750fps, jumping 15thou. Barrel length was 26in

    Yes, I think so.
I have hopes that the PPU will perform ok for several reloads and the Lapua are said to last for "ever", we'll see!

I've started with 107 gr Match Kings with Tac powder of at the moment 28.5gr, which seems to be the best load for accuracy at the moment.
    0.010" jump
Afraid I cannot give speed as no chrono.

One of my buddies does, cheap brass is easy enough to come by in the form of 7.62x39
    Thanks for looking
