    !803 Harpers Ferry Flint Rifle - .58cal

    Hi
Anyone on here own one of the replica 1803 Harpers Ferry Flint rifles (not shotgun)? If so, what is the average load/ball/bullet combination? I am in the process of purchasing a .58 cal version and would like a bit of info so I can have ball/bullets, patches ready.

I've tried searching on-line but can't find anything that comes close.

I shoot an Enfield P53 in the same calibre but am not convinced a Minie-bullet would be worth a try!

At a guess I would opt for a .562" ball and a .015" or .020" patch. 50 to 60 grains of Kranks fine should give you a good start. Swiss No.2 may need a smaller charge.
