    Hunting scope under £250

Hello all I'm after some recommendations for a hunting scope under £250 this will be going on my HW97K . Was thinking of the MTC mamba lite 3-12 ×42 ? What say you guys?
    Thanks Tom.

Scope choices are pretty subjective, as are the magnifications shooters use.

The 97's no lightweight so I'd opt for the lightest scope possible to aid standing shots.

The scopes sat on my hunting rifles are (in no particular order of preference):

    Hawke Airmax 2-7x32 AO
    MTC Genesis Ultralite 3-9x40
    Leupold VX Freedom 3-9x40
The smaller Airmax, is incidentally lighter than the other 2 with the Leupold being the lightest

I only shoot on 5x mag so all have good clarity and depth of field

A scope with good optics for dusk n dawn shooting should be your first criteria.

Used Leupold is worth a look. Eg the 3-9x32 AO EFR.

Yep, if it suits your eye & you like the ret it's probably as good as any other, personally I don't like either.

There are dozens if not hundreds of scopes that would work, you know what you want/need, the rest of us can only guess.

I look at Optisan first then Hawke because they tend to suit me.

    Scope under £250

Have a look at Vector Optics. I have just bought their Veyron 4-16x44 FFP which is compact, excellent build quality, 30mm tube, side focus, lift and lock turrets, honeycomb sunshade and your choice of dovetail or weaver mounts for £13.50, they supply medium and high in the box. Optics Warehouse is doing it for £179.95 I presume excluding mounts. There are many others to choose from on the Vector Optics site.

    Cheers, Phil

I would buy used at that range, but, something like a Burris, Leopold, Bausch and Lomb, Weaver Grand Slam are underrated or Bushnell Elite 4200.
