Evenin all.

Well, that was a wetter than expected/hoped day, was it not. On the plus side, it was probably the wet stuff which made our local bees stay in their hives until very late in the competition. Our resident bee keeper told me that it’s precisely this time of year – as the rape flowers begin to disappear – that the bees are inclined to go looking for a new home; hence the appearance of some bright orange rope to reduce the risk of you walking right in to a swam which had perched on one of our trees.

After those ‘niceties’, I’m going straight in to a warning for future SIHFT rounds. I did remind you today (as we did at Ford), that full and accurate completion of score cards was very important. Most bits of all cards showed an improvement, so well done … BUT, there were 5 naughty people today who failed to get their cards’ ‘Witness signature’ line completed. All your cards must – at the end of the shoot – be signed off by one of the people you shot with. I’m going to name those 5, as I reckon all really ought to know better. Nick Byrne, Nigel Gosling, Neil Palmer, Daniel Smith and Simon Whittick. Perhaps of particular note for those of you who enter the UKAHFT Nationals and the Worlds, your cards handed in without a signature would be ‘zapped’ by the scorer. Please don’t forget to get this done. From SIHFT R3 onward, the leniency given today will not continue. Rant/warning over.

As I’m sure I forgot to give verbal thanks to very well deserved individuals at the end of the shoot … BIG thanks to Alicia for her assistance with booking in and the post-shoot scoring and to our Marshals (Charles, Nik and Cargy).

Great to see another couple of handfuls of people new to HFT, or returning today after a long break. This helped swell today’s entry to 57. Fingers crossed there will be yet more as the season progresses.
Anyway …. Here are the results. The only column (or NOT when it comes to the BBS) perhaps not recognised from its heading is the last one – the “T”. This denotes that this person’s score has been included in their club team result.

Great to see that all 5 ‘hosting’ clubs were able to field at least 5 members, so no need for the random card draw exercise today. Interesting combination after just 2 rounds, now with a 3-way tie for 3rd place. I imagine this will not remain the same as we progress through the year.
