I plink with my .25 Lightning and love it, I've not hunted with it yet and would have no hesitations either.

Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in

    Hi Brian
I have 3 springer’s in .25 and enjoy using them for close range hunting and longer range target work.
I like the challenge in extending the range for target shooting and if I do my bit, they can be very rewarding.
I would love to own a Bsa Lonestar in .25 if I had a FAC.

    .25s

I have a Weihrauch 99 in .25 and I'm very happy with it. Sub 12 Fp, but I have found it is unhappy with heavier pellets The two best IMO are H&N FTT at 20.06 gr and good old Marksman at 19.2 both give 11.3-4 and more accurate than the 25gr pellets I have tried.

Hi Brian. I have a HW80 in .25. I’ve had good fun with it at my old club/range ‘smashing up’ all sorts of novelty targets and old domestic items like crockery and kids toys. I haven’t really spent enough time with it, nor have I assured myself that I have the most accurate pellets but, yes, I would like to hunt with it once I’ve done that. You’ve just spurred me on to get it out very soon and start reacquainting myself with it

    I love .25 cal,
I had a Hatsan Striker back in 2011, even did a review on here, It loved Marksman pellets Brian, so I'd try them in the Dominator, I was almost tempted to buy that as it was just down the road from me.
I've also had a BSA SuperSport .25, although that obviously had the .243" barrel,
& I've now got a BSA Scorpion SE in .25.

The Scorpion seems to shoot anything pretty accurately, but chrono testing has shown me that 25-26gn is the top end weight for a sub 12 pellet, above that they just aren't efficient & muzzle energy falls off a cliff.

As it happens I recently acquired 3 tins of Norica Apache 19gn & a tin of Mosquito 20gn (God I wish JSB would make them again as Exact RS Kings) to go with FTT 20.6gn,
Also worth a look are JSB lead free at 16.54gn, although they're really far too hard for a hunting pellet.

For Rats & Tree Rats in the garden it's my go to rifle.

I've as same as you Brian, but only use at short ranges upto 25yards. The trajectory is too loopy past that. Try bsa pylarm in your np02, beats h&n and jsb in mine and not too heavy. I find once a rat is hit with .25 it's not going anywhere and little chance of pass through. I tend to shoot around machinery and livestock so want the pellet to stay in the body.

    I built a .25 HW95 - originally for clobbering close range vermin.
But then Don reminded me that he owed me a favour and engraved it all over. I added a nice walnut stock and colour case hardened parts of it.

It now lives in the cabinet and only comes out to clobber tin cans on nice days...
Put on heading 270, assume attack formation
