.22 Serial no 18512. The stock has had a swivel at some point and has been plugged.

Thrale says those stocks were available as extra up to 60's. Would be interesting to know if yours has its original serial stamped into stock under the action.
Still doing that around 32000 or so. As Geezer says, probably a series 3 action in a series 4 stock.
Oh and very nice too.
Not a professional chequering job by the look of it.
Its the optional chequering offered by the Webley factory for Mk3's. As said above, cost extra, rathe like the optional sling swivels that were offered.I have one too, and have seen a couple of others. Its unusual and must add a bit to the normal value of a Mk3.
Hi
I bought this one from a friend a few months ago (Just when I wasn't buying any more guns!), I paid (I think) £300 for it but with a BSA Cadet major thrown in!, I now reckon he sold it way too cheaply! He's on here by the way..
The stock was either made or reworked by the late Don Robinson, I was told it was rare for him not to embelish stocks with Eagles and other strange exotic themes!!
Have to say, I love this rifle, It shot great when I took it to the range too!
I think he may have bought it from the owner of SDS in Sheffield as he's good friends with him..
Cheers, John
