    Stripping a Ginb stock

I’ve a couple of HW’s in Ginb stocks. Think I bought them direct from Mr Gentilini around 15 years ago. Back then they came in a hard lacquer that goes white when dented. Does anyone know how I can strip this finish as would now prefer a modern oil finish?

A few years ago I had a dark FT-01 on an S400, the cheek piece has seen better days and the finish had started lifting. I stripped it with Nitromores and very fine wire wool, but wear a mask as the wood fibres are carciogenic. Apart from that persivernce!

I think I used Danish oil but I left mine matt instead of glossy, turned out very nice as I remember.

I’ve found the new eco formula paint strippers to be absolutely useless. Wondering if starchem would work but it’s an expensive gamble.

As above, if anybody knows of a modern paint stripper that works I'd be glad to hear it.

This is decent stuff but you have to apply a fair bit to get things moving:

I did a s200 stock a decade ago and did it all by hand, started with 80 grit wet and dry, then 140,240,400, 600 1000 and finally 1200, finished with CCL (but Danish would be just as good). IIRC it took me around 12 solid hours over a weekend.
