    BSA R10 service

Hi, I have a BSA R10 and used it predominantly for getting rid of the pesky rabbits that are destroying the paddock on my property. I haven't really used it now for at least a year and the rabbits are out in full force again. Time ime for another cull I think (and they're quite tasty).
Took the R10 out this morning and it doesn't seem to want to hold its charge. I think it needs a good service unless I'm doing something wrong!
Does anybody know or recommend somewhere in West Sussex I can take it to or will I need to post it to someone? Any advice gratefully received.
    Thanks for your time
    Ray

Sorry I can't help with your question ,but regged guns like the R10 need to be used regularly to help avoid problems.

One of the common problems to check before you spend money on it is the cylinder. Shoot the gun down to under 100bar, gently unscrew the cylinder till the air escapes - don't worry, it's supposed to do this Check the O ring/hard seal, and apply a tiny amount of silicon to freshen it up if it look s ok, then tighten it back up, and unscrew it a 1/4 turn at the end, then refill. The reason for this is that the cylinder seals around the edges, and not the face, so your not gaining anything having it really tight, which some people miss as it's a bit counter intuitive.

Worth a punt before getting the service if it's shooting ok

Thanks for that. Have tried lubing the cylinder. When I fill it (from a bottle) it climbs to about 150 and then stops. As soon as I shut the bottle air off it slowly drops again so I'm assuming a seal somewhere?

This sounds like the two seals between the action and the reg housing, you can get reg seal kits and they are easy to fit, but it's often worth just getting the whole lot as your half way to stripping it anyway. If your not competent in doing this, speak to a few guys at your club if you have one, these are easier to do than some, but I've bodged one and got someone more technical to fit one also
