    A return to airguns

So today I bought my first air rifle in about 15years.

Collected it from the shop and went to same shops range to zero it. After about 20 rounds it dumped all the air down the barrel

Now has to go back to the distributer.

So I thought I would come back here for a moan about it

Sounds like it just had low air.

Did you try refilling it ?

Generally speaking a PCP can dump its air when the air pressure in its cylinder drops to around 80 bar ... I have known this value be higher and lower. But 'after about 20 shots' is a bit strange. What rifle is it? What was original fill pressure? Did you notice a drop off in velocity during the final few shots? Did you notice any strange hissing noise that could have been air escaping during your session? Maybe there was a slight leak from the start and the pressure just slowly reduced to the critical low point? Did the shop fill the rifle for you?

Whatever .. bit of a bind to have the rifle go back. Let's hope it all ends well. And think positive: it did not happen at home so you did not have a return journey to make (small solace I agree).

    Cheers, Phil

Some guns when they reach a low level of residual air will then dump the remains till reservoir is empty. This pressure drop varies from gun to gun!
    eg AA400, FTP900.
Had me seriously worried when the 900 did it, then you have to cock rifle and pulse fill until valving shuts.
    Hope its helpful. Hi Phil.

So you bought the rifle today ,now it's broke and you've no gun. Why didn't they just give you another new gun ?

    Yeah it was ordered.

I am sure it will reappear soon. It’s not the shops fault.
