Of all the springers my tuned 95 is a pretty light weight in the cocking stakes. I suspect only my Sports are as light.

Shoulders and spines often sort themselves out, but take yonks to. My issue is my lower back, and had that issue for 25 years. Last time it went pain ballistic, rather than operate as before, it was a year of grief and pain management. Kind of eventually sorted it out though anything active has back preservation as a priority. Taking off weight and doing strengthening is part of the management plan. Still it takes little to set it off.

As suggested, do a year PCP break. Then try again with your springers. Only then decide.

Is it reaching out to grip the barrel or the effort of cocking? If it is just the effort perhaps you could replace the barrel weight with a light barrel shroud a few inches longer to give yourself a bit more leverage.
    Best Regards

    I've got some slug guns.

Yep, sold my HW77 around 2 months ago. Just found it too much like hard work afyer major surgery to remove cancer from my shoulder. Initially decided to concentrate on the pcp but recently rediscovered a couple of far lesser, yet lighter springers that are easier to handle than the 77.

    HW95L cocking

FWIW, My HW95L is equipped with the Weihrauch moderator & at 83+ it makes the cocking of the rifle easier.

    Rifle specs:

Moderator weighs 4.32 oz, 122.6 g, 1892 gr. Moderator is 6” long and female threads start 2.1” in from beveled end of Moderator. The thread is 3/4" long & 1/2" diameter with 20 threads per inch.
Barrel length = 15.75” from end of moderator to breech block end.
Barrel without moderator = 12.188”, (12-3/16”, 309.575 mm), from thread end to breech block end.
HW95L total rifle length = 41.875” from end of moderator to butt center.
Rifle is 29” from end of moderator to end of compression tube.

This may be rather crude but you could use a piece of PVC pipe to slip over the end of the barrel to give more leverage for cocking. Hope you are able to enjoy your rifle.

As a fellow neck, back and arm pain sufferer I sympathise, RR. And I know you mentioned this the other week. So sorry to hear it's becoming such an issue.

Some very good suggestions up above from undertaking treatment (Chinese acupuncture worked best for me), resting it for a while and using your remaining PCP, getting the lighter and ridiculously easy cocking HW30 etc. Did you try using the opposite arm for cocking like we mentioned the other week and reducing the intensity of the sessions? For the very short term it might be worth trying the resting route combined with medical advice / treatment. It'd be a huge shame to do anything as drastic as selling the gun if it turns out that you recover longer term only to regret having sold a gun you obviously like so much.

For any non-serious / shorter range plinking use and to keep your eye in whilst providing extra challenge, how about treating yourself to an easy-to-use CO2 pistol?

Longer term, if you were not to recover, I'd certainly be looking to go down that HW30S route for its very light weight, very low cocking effort, exemplary manners and fine accuracy.

    Hope you get over this.

I have been suffering with a neck & shoulder injury for the last 14 years, according to the specialist it is and will get continually worse.

There is also a chance that any sudden neck movement could result in me being paralysed from the neck down.

I am on morphine patches as well as numerous other pain blockers, I have have cortizone injections in my shoulder and nerve root blocking injections in my cervical spine. Isued to shoot HFT a lot and do the odd article but that all went south when I injured myself.

I now shoot just once a week and I am currently shooting a tuned Prosport and tuned HW95k it hurts like S**T but I'm stubborn, and I can only shoot sitting at a bench. I force myself to go to the club as I am currently suffering a massive depressive episode along with major anxiety issues, also been told I most likeiy have PTSD from when I worked for the police.

Shooting is the only thing that clears my mind and I always feel a little better mentally after some range time although physically I'm a wreck if I go overboard with the springers so now I limit the springer to 15 minutes and spend the rest of the time with a PCP.

    Just my 2p worth

Age is not kind sometimes. Might be time to turn to the darkside and use a PCP, you keep shooting a lot longer.
