    Ruger MkIV

I'm considering buying one of the (new?) Ruger lookalike pistols.
Anybody got one? Are they any good?
They look like they may be based on the Browning Buckmark air pistol.

I've always fancied one for the simplicity and reportedly mild firing manners. How sturdy are they in the breech / pivot area?

Excellent, thank you. I've never actually seen one "in the flesh", let alone handled one. Must correct that.

Jason done a review in Airgun World not long ago.

I have held / used it. It is light and easy to cock. Suitable for young children getting into the sport too

When you first pick it up it’s very light. A fair bit of plastic but metal where it matters. As Paddy says easy to cock and surprisingly accurate. Not much to rave about until you see the price. It’s incredible value for money and reasonably well finished. So with the price in mind it’s a very good pistol, just don’t go making comparisons with HW45s, they are in totally different leagues.

    Great fun gun

If you go for one, give it chance to bed in, it's a bit of a scatter gun to start with, but after half a tin of pellets it really starts to come together, for the money it really is a great little pistol.

Purely because my local had sold the Ruger, but still had a Buckmark in stock, I bought the Buckmark. Pretty much the same pistol really, just comes down to wearing a slightly different suit.
Verdict; great for up to about 7m, but after that, the poor trigger starts to make a big difference and you have to go 2 handed to get an ok result at 10m.
It's a decent plinker, and very accurate for what it is, but I remember when this came out in Europe it was a £40 pistol, while over here, it was £60. several years later, I still think it's a bit over priced at the £84 I paid.

The Ruger looks like it has the action of the old 1980s Record Model 1 / 2 but with a new overcoat.

I used to love the old Records and have owned several over the years.

Prefer boxed or cased but will consider loose examples too.
