I bought my 3ltr from SGC in Dorchester and was told it's from the sale date by the guy in there, I didn't know any better as I'd always used a pump and was some years ago. Anyway it had been sat in the shop for 2 years and the first time I got it filled in Yeovil I was told it's the stamped date.
So I lost 2 years of test and paid full price.
I won't use SGC again, they saw me for the mug I was at the time.

Always buy the cheapest one that you want. if you go in a shop and check the date STAMPED on the bottle and it's a few months off, this is a good haggling point on price.

A bottle test, every 5 years, is around £40, so maybe a bargaining point for a tenner off pro rata ? If it's the cheapest bottle price, down to you if you want to haggle, if the shop does fills, try including that in negotiations.

The bottles usually come in to the suppliers in containers, and are stamped in production. So all bottles will have a few months gone at least usually.

Sunderland Airguns do indeed offer the rest of the year as free fills, might want to check if they mean 12 months or the calendar year as it’s worded to suggest the latter. Not much use sadly for those of us with a compressor, I’d rather they chucked in a free test
