Anschütz 380 - handgrip is their weakness - advice required..

I have just acquired an Anschütz 380 target air rifle. It doesn't (yet) have a cracked handgrip. Many do. I see they were reinforced with a long screw covered by a plastic lug.
Does anyone know how to strengthen this area better to protect it from an almost inevitable crack?

First I've heard of this, mine was fine, and still is with its new owner, I personally wouldn't fix something that isn't broken
