Cadet major - trigger engagement problem

Hi team,

I've had my Dad's old cadet major in the cupboard for years. Got it out recently for fun with the grandkids. Unfortunately the trigger is not safe. I've tried adjusting the little screw in both directions but it won't stay cocked it just slips off the trigger. This maybe why it's been in the cupboard for years.!!!

Is this a common problem?

Any ideas what I can do to fix.

Check/replace the trigger / sear springs?
Examine the trigger for any breakage and/or wear?
