    Best paint for that is Suncorite 259 weapons finishing paint. A semi matt engine paint. If you want although not original but seen on other guns as a paint finish is the wrinkle finish in black. You could also use a light powder finish coat very durable but would need masking from fitted areas.

    Thanks guys for the advice. Have plumped for etch primer and a black satin top coat. Will do before and after when finished, hopefully.

    Get a black etch primer because if you scratch the top coat in black the colour primer you use will come through and look crap.
