Webley Nemesis X .22 Cal PCP. Yes NOT C02.

Webley Nemesis X .22 Cal PCP. Yes NOT C02.

Well guys what can I say, I'm a rampant Americana addict. I love US gear from Western stuff like Colt SAA's or Lever Action carbines. But worse I have a fetish for the Black rifle / SBR / TDR / Compact rifle / Backpack gun/ Survival carbine, Scout Carbine, etc. Call it whatever you like but you get the idea. So when the Edgun Leshiy came out I was stunned, it was a Simple, Compact, Folding, Single Shot, Silly Reliable Kinky carbine. I was in lust instantly. Naturally I could not afford the £1000 price tag, and certainly not its £1800 price tag of today.

Then came the Multi shot Leshiy 2, total gun porn, but over £2000 meaning it would never be part of my life.
So I toyed with stuff like the Walther Reign Bullpup, I played around with a CP2 for a while, and I converted a PP700 PCP pistol into a carbine with a Bob Pattendon stock (superb kit) . But even the PP700BP was a compromise, Small air chamber, short barrel, low power, but I loved the falling block breech..

So I threw £180 at a Webley Nemesis CO2 rifle, It had potential but I hated the bloody 88G Co2 capsule even with a 12 G adaptor. I wasn't happy as both size capsules always leaked away in storage. And it only averaged about 9ft pound, a good 24% UNDER what we can legally have. And the magazines though novel double sided they were unreliable. So that went the journey as well.

    Come forward 2 years.
Then I saw something very interesting on AAR (Andys Airguns on Air) A NEW Webley, it was a PCP version of their C02 Nemesis X rifle. Similar BUT Different.

A fully detachable REGULATED bottle instead of a disposable 88g C02 thingy. Refillable ON or OFF the gun.

    A 3 inch SHORTER 17 inch carbine barrel (20 inch on C02 rifle) .22 or .177.

Full length Picatinny rails top and bottom, plus detachable Pic rail riser AR15 style.

A threaded floating steel barrel threaded for a moderator.

Two types of magazine, 1x Large 12 shot (in 22) magazine and 1x double magazine (2x 6 shot).

AR 15 styling with loads of Picatinny space,

Pistol grip with storage for carrying a spare magazine, Detachable Picatinny mounted Foregrip / Bipod.

    Single shot adaptor

30 inches in length and only 2KG in weight and it runs over 11ft pound using 15.89 grain pellets.

I wanted one badly. As apparently so does Andy on AAR.

Finding one was harder than just wanting one, because its fairly new (though the mechanism is proven) not many places had them, and frankly some of them were taking the Mick when it came to prices.

Found them from £467 each , £349, £390 to £309 . The Trading post in Sunderland was cheapest and had one in stock at £309. So I went to Sunderland and as normal for me in Sunderland I got lost AGAIN. Last time I could not get OUT of that fair city and ended up in South Shields instead of the A19 south.

What's it like you ask, I think its well made, ergonomic, well balanced, very accurate out to 40 plus yards (punching holes in coke cans accurately at what turned out to be 43 yards) . Light smooth trigger, LOUD unmoderated, very quiet moderated the hammer makes more noise than the report. Easy to use about 60 shots per fill in .22 Easy to pack away if required. A great little compact take down carbine that's easy to use and accessorize.

Its an ideal truck or backpack carbine ideal for carrying around all day. (EDC)

9 /10 in use. 8/10 quality. 8.5/10 accuracy. 9.5/10 in usefulness, My own poor man,s Leshiy or Ranger XR.

I communicated with Highland Outdoors the importers/ dealers of the Nemesis PCP and they inform me the PCP has different guts to the C02 version, and its designed to operate on HPA.

Well tbh I started off with quite low expectations when I was comparing it with my other guns, but I have been proven completely wrong, its a little gem. Light, compact , 30 inches but still a 17 inch barrel, well balanced, more than accurate enough and powerful enough for me (over 11.5 ft pound) . My PR900s WERE my primary ratting and bunny basher, but within days the NEM X has replaced both as my grab n go gun. I only want a better sight but its got to be compact as I have an aversion to adding weight to a gun I could be carrying all day. I'm already buttering up the wife cos I want a second one. I call it a poor mans Vixen or Ranger XR
