That rings true, as there are a shooting disciplines that don't allow the use of thumbhole stocks in competition.
I read somewhere that this was why the BSA Buccaneer wasn't a better seller as a junior target rifle ?

I guess Titan offered it as an option on the Manitou.
Agree entirely that the period CS800 looks better than the modern version. It was definitely made from better wood...
I have a Titan catalogue somewhere - probably still in the box of stuff I've got to sort through from when we moved house, ( nine years ago ) that shows the entire range offered at that time.
There were a number of target stocks, including one that looked very much like the CS800 pictured here but with the top strap removed to the thumbhole. It looked very much like the Shamal / SM series Target stock if you remember those.

They were assembled on Birmingham airport free port, something to do with taxes until they were sold.

The barrels were supplied by Walther. The air reservoirs were UK and machined in Coventry then blacked by Webley & Scott as were the barrel blanks. The stocks were all made by Custom Stocks of Sheffield except for the cheaper version of the pistol stock. It was assembled in the Birmingham Freeport which amongst other things was ideal for security and kept the public out. Titan Developments did not deal direct with the public but went through dealers. See the JB Fanpage (he designed it for Titan) on facebook for loads more details and photos including copies of their colour catalogues which show the Manitou model referred to earlier.
