    Seems Odd

Someone purporting to be a member on here posted two rifles for sale, I PMd the seller saying a friend of mine would buy them and to let me have his name, address and phone number and my friend would pick them up.

I had a reply to my PM by PM, from the seller asking if we could leave a deposit.

To make our offer a genuine I replied to his original post that we would pick them up and pay cash.

I looked on the site this morning and he had withdrawn the sale.

He has every right to withdraw the sale, it just seems odd.

    Sounds a bit suspect …
Was he an established member or relative newbie?

The sale was presumably on another site
I suppose saying withdrawn might be because if they sold very quickly he might think his price was too cheap,
watch for another sale saying he's changed his mind again & they must go, but with a price increase

Asking for a deposit seems reasonable to establish if you're serious as it's "your friend" who will be buying, not you the member he's talking to,
the seller may be just as suspicious as the buyer.

Has he PM'd back, or just gone quiet, & as Dave asked how long was on the site ? the site in question is the place to ask.

He's edited the original post, deleted the contents actually and ignored my request. I'll give him til the end of play today and take it from there.

I think I see where its heading already.

    O/T

An ex workmate of mine also did part time work for a house clearance company. Asked him if he ever found any airguns...Anything like that, he was instructed by his boss to hand into the Police immediately. Whether it was because his manager didn't know the difference between a Junior & a Colt .45, or some legal thing, I don't know.
