    Genesis Air Rifle

Hi. I’m seeking opinions as to the value of my Genesis Air rifle

This is a bit special as it serial number XP2 which belonged to JR Spencer

It comes with the blue user manual and a letter from JR Spencer dated 13.12.97 which states this was his own personal Genesis

    Condition is very good

It is very hard rifle to cock and heavy

Appreciate your views as I have a friend who is interested in acquiring and I’d like to be fair to both parties

With that serial number and letter authenticating its heritage, I’d say it’s one of the few Genesis that might actually be worth the price they usually command!

£1300 I think would be fair. As that brings it slightly over “regular” Genesis prices when in mint condition and with accessories. Obviously yours has no accessories, but does have the heritage

Before you move it on though I’m sure I’m not the only one that would love to see pictures of it, so if you get the time to grab a few I’d love to see them

They aren’t an everyday shooter, but they are lovely rifles that deserve admiration!

I suspect it is worth what a mint example with all the extra bits is worth. The provenance ensures its value even with a bit of usage.
Beautifully made and engineered. Just hard to cock, which takes some of the fun out of it even when they are very accurate. Only 270 odd examples made. All .22 though there might be a .177 prototype somewhere.

Yea very large rifles, you need a lot of room to get them in frame!

Thank you for taking the time to get the photos, looks lovely with a nice piece of walnut and clearly been looked after!

I remember talking with Richard at Target Technics when I bought an Air Logic scope off him .

He said had made a prototype in .177 (the only one). I could not afford a Genesis then.
He told me the story of Home Office intervention in the project as they were very wary of his new invention.

    Lovely man.

The late Gerald Cardew wrote a technical article and review on the Genesis for Airgunner magazine when the single stroke first appeared. I was told by someone that GC confided in that the airgun boffin admitted he didnt shoot the rifle - cocking it was beyond his capabilities.
Not much changes with time in magazine article reviews.
