    Storage Solutions / Pistol Cases

These bleeding air pistols multiply so quickly. Before I crack on with making some rifle cases, I had a go at some pistol rugs for the HW75 and Gamo Center.

Made with thick upholstery leather, thin foam, and liner.

Not entirely convinced by pistol rugs. I think I'd prefer a semi-closed design, closer to a holster.

Is there much call for these types of cases? What do people prefer?

Looks like you've made a decent job of those pistol rugs, but I prefer boxes so they can be stacked without damage to the contents. Rugs are fine for travel as they can often be tucked out of the way.
Why not have a go at making your own cardboard boxes?
Once you get the hang of making them it's not difficult.

Actually both the Gamo Center and the HW75 have original boxes.

Pistol rugs were more for storage while in transit, and on the bench at a range. I'd previously cut foam for a hard case for the little Webley Tempest, but found it quite cumbersome.

It's nice to keep the pellets dry under the cover when shooting in the garden...

My wife adapted a wooden briefcase for me. It has the added benefit of combination locks, so meets the security criteria to and from the range.

Used to do the same back when we were allowed to have pistols, with a couple in the briefcase along with a few boxes of .357 and 9mm home loads I used to have one arm longer that the other going out and not much shorter one the way back but used try to walk with it like it wasn't heavy.
