Valuation please Vintage pellets and boxed Mercury and others

    Hi All.

Ive been asked by a mate if i can value/sell his dads old pellets and what looks like a very good vintage Mercury, Edgar Bros rifle and small faily rough Original rifle.

Mercury serial is ZO12551. Looks in excellent condition original box includes original open sights and foresight hood. No knocks or marks looks like its not been out of the box much.

Edgar bros model 60 .22 very good conditiion

Original model 35. .22 not so good. Hand painted action and non professional stock stain job.

    Pellets are all vintage...

Sussex Armoury Jackal tube of .177
    .56 Eley wasp .22
    Bulldog .22
    Webley and scott flying Scott.22
    Sussex armoury. Magnum .22
    Milbro caledonian .22 waisted

    All containers pretty full.

    Valuation advice much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jon

I sold an immaculate Mercury S on here a few years back for £200 but that also included a service kit with it. Ordinarily I'd say quite a bit less than that for a standard Mercury, but if your friend's rifle is in excellent nick and with original box that'll lift the price.

I don't want to break any forum rules by asking if you've photos to show, but I guess they'd help the experts give a more accurate valuation.

Interesting information about the Mercury S as I’m looking at getting one, it’s good condition but not mint by any stretch.

The one I bought came via Baz who used to be a moderator on here. He was selling it on behalf of a friend whose husband had passed away, if I remember correctly and it'd hardly been used at all. A shame the original box wasn't with it, but then the price would've been significantly higher, I think.

The Mercury holds a bit of sentiment for me as it's first rifle I got to shoot regularly as a teenager, as my best mate got one for his birthday. Probably not that great a rifle when compared with others but lovely when looking back with rose tinted specs!

    Hi all.

As requested here are a few photos of the Mercury.
Im thinking £250..or is that too much??

It will be going for sale here shortly..my mate says he thinks he has the original bits that came in the box too.

I think £250 might be optimistic for a standard Mercury (i.e. not the Mercury S) however... the original box might make it attractive to a collector and, as with anything, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay.

Good luck with the sale anyway, it sounds like it's a nice example of a lovely old rifle.

I think £250 is fair when you look at the price of new springers of comparable quality made here now..... the original is an older one by the looks of it .

I bought a very nice boxed Mk 3 along with accessories for £170 last year + the cost of a piston re-seal, which is only to be expected with some of these old 1970/80s BSAs.

    John
Currently looking for Baikal Makarov pistols with the following prefixes to the serial number: 98, T01, T09, T21, T22
Prefer boxed or cased but will consider loose examples too.
