I've not really played much with different springs for an 80. I've been told that the TX spring may not be quite up to the task for this application. However, as you have it already, personally, I'd be tempted to give it a try and see how it goes. I see Will of Welsh Willy fame is now doing a replacement spring of his own design with thinner gauge wire and Monsieur Tinbum, I think, was about ready to launch his own for the 30mm HWs, so you have a good few options to go at.

No answer but for a while I had quite a few HW35's & 80's. Not a tuner myself but experimented weighing pistons & trying different combo's of springs etc etc all just to amuse & baffle me. What I got annoyed about was when looking for a 35 spring it allways turned out to be an 80 one but listed as a 35 simply because it fit. Apparently ?? a 35 spring is softer ?? None of my experiments were conclusive & I've given up springers now due to getting wobbly with age, pity as I fancy a 80 or 35 running at about 6/8ftb for short range plinking so looking at the HW30's

    31 Coil
    21mm O.D
    14.6mm I.D

Same as a No 10 but with 5 Extra Coils

What did you end up fitting, Jonathan? One from your existing assortment? Do you know what it was / measurements?
