Danish Oil, what next?

Just refinished my Benjamin 317 stock with five coats of Danish Oil.

A vast improvement over the unloved, grainless look it had.

Now much darker than I expected and showing reasonable grain, but no shine to it.

Is there anything cheap and simple to get a bit of a shine?

Polish.
You can use Pledge, black bison is better.

I'd use a Beeswax to seal it, few coats buff to a nice deep shine and should help waterproof it too.

I have used Danish oil, albeit many coats, and got a great shine. But then I have noticed a difference in performance between different brands of Danish oil.

Very pleased with the outcome overall, but a bit of a lustre would be nice, looks like some sort of wax is on the cards.

I will have a rummage in the local shops.

According to Rustins, their Danish oil and teak oil are the same but Danish oil has stuff added to kill any shine. I use teak oil and four coats give a nice shine to close grained wood.

Incidentally, I just tried to strip the varnish from my Benjamin 312 stock with a cheap stripper from that Bay.
No effect at all, tried on some paint, just the same.
The bottle claims content is flammable, I have tested it and it is not.
Bottle also claims solvent based, but does not smell of anything.
Contents resemble water.

Buy a bottle of CCL stock refinishing oil you only need a tiny amount & hand buff it up to however shiny a finish you want, i always used danish for the first few coats on bare wood then that to finish off great stuff & one small bottle did 4 gunstocks it goes so far!

Periodically I apply Blonde Oil to our oak dining table and chairs as per the manufacturers recommendations and I oftern wonder if it would be any good on airgun stocks, primarily walnut ?
It looks good on the oak table with a slight golden tint but I dont know the details of it and its not cheap !
