I've used the Birchwood casey stuff but I'm sure you can use white vinegar too.
Evening all. I have been cleaning up an Airsporter action prior to ( hot) cold bluing and cannot get my wet & dry into the nooks & crannies and the writing.
Does anybody know of a substance that will take off the remainder.

Cheap and cheerful white vinegar, Just soak whatever your stripping. Col.
as above works wonders
White vinegar works, but keep an eye on it.It will rust the parts you are working on.
Hi I use 0000 grade wire wool, gets in all the books and crannies, and polishes
Spirit of salts. Its drain cleaner, hydrochloric acid. I use it to strip shotgun action prior to blacking. It's nasty stuff but instant. Neutralise with bicarbonate of soda.
Brick -patio cleaner.
Wipe or brush on,rinse with off with water.
Les..
A work colleague some years ago, did a fine job by leaving a Theoben Fenman I'd sold him in a wool like lined gun bag in his shed ! He even tried to sell me it back for what he'd paid including the chewed hole mice had done to the Theoben slip.
