Will Springers be the future more Enviromental friendly :-)

    Fun thread

Would Greta Thunberg use a springer or PCP with all that driving to get the tanks filled

but jokes apart will springers still be going when the PCP's have long gone in the distant future.

    Just for fun opinions.

Well as things go they are the closest to zero emmisions as a PCP while you can handpump it still requires more than a Springer to keep going and is more likely to see issues using inferior ammo.

Mmmmm.....if only. Unfortunately I can see the future swinging more and more towards those pesky PCPs.

    Same with motorcycles and cars...
People buy some larger capacity vehicle they think must be better, when the truth is something smaller will do almost everything as well - but more efficiently.

Back then servants to do the pumping for you were cheaper than compressors 🤣

On the subject of efficiency the springer must surely win by a mile.

As air is compressed its temperature rises and must be cooled in a compressor or bottle, wasted energy, otoh in a springer the energy is used to propel the pellet.

    Plus springers are just great

Nah, you just have to add a few drops of Adblue to your pellet tin.

If I was to be put on a desert island than a boinger would win against a pcp everytime. My only concession would be a couple of spare mainsprings and breech seals although I expect the latter could be made ... plus, of course a plentiful supply of ammunition.
If these were not available then a good supply of rubber for catapults.
So I expect boingers to outlive pcps.

    Cheers, Phil

Of course boingers waste energy, what do ya think recoil is...... turbulence!!
What would be good, if we could rig up a system so that when a springer is cocked then some air is squeezed into an air cylinder to be used for PCP fills.
    The world is green again.

If you use a stirrup pump why is a springer greener than a pcp??
