Interesting box Stu. Looks like one of the later ones.

Are there any markings on the box that relate to the Parabellum?

My box is the earlier type with a line drawing of the rifle and SA artwork.

I'd be interested in knowing the SN of your example too.

    Kind regards,

    John

    Hi john,

I'm sad to report the box has smk stamped on it as the original box was long gone,it's just the box it got posted in and funnily enough all the polystyrene protector bits fitted it perfectly so was ideal for for postage

As for the serial number it's 01466 so I'm guessing quite an early one but have no idea how many were made,do you know?

    Cheers
    Stu

    Thanks Stu,

Yes, a relatively early one and the SMK box explains its plain nature. The last of the Hi-Powers in 1982 were sold in plain boxes but I don't believe the Parabellum was actively marketed after 1980. It sounded strange that your Parabellum had been supplied in a plain box and I was therefore intrigued.

I believe around 5-6000 Parabellums were made and the highest serial numbers known to me for Jackals are in the 13000 range.

The lowest numbers known to me for Air Arms marked Hi-Powers are in the 15000 range, so there were between 13000 and 15000 Sussex Armoury models made by my estimation.

If anyone knows of SA Jackals outside of the above SN ranges, I'd be interested in learning of model type, SN and whether the top of the air cylinder is marked Jackal.

    Hope that helps.

    Kind regards,

    John

Great looking Jackal. I fear no scope.

    Nice find!

I'm sure most Jackal fans may well have seen JRH/Air Armoury videos (sadly not posting videos anymore it seems) but I always enjoyed his quite quirky content and both being locals the Sussex guns were always interesting to see:
