Help please with the identification of a very old BSA air rifle.

I hope that I have posted this thread on the correct section?

A old friend has recently been widowed and her late husband had many rifles, shotguns and air rifles, all have been disposed of except for the one I would appreciate help with identifying and if possible? some idea of it's value.

It's a BSA make air rifle with the stamp of 14270 on it.
It's in a lovely condition with no obvious faults, it has been re-blued.

I wish that I could post a photo of it but the Airgun BBS system for doing that has defeated me, too complex I'm afraid for me.

    It's a under lever.

I don't think it has hardly used for several years, a item passed down in the family, lovely condition.

Guessing it's a quite scarce and very early Improved Model B (apparently the first Improved Model B was 14230) but you really want to ask the mods to move this topic to the 'Collectable' forum section as you will get a lot of help there.

According to the John Knibbs book

Serial 14270 falls in the range of 14230 to14729 and is a Sixth batch BSA either standard or light pattern improved model B.
Manufactured Feb-Mar 1907 and left the factory between Feb 1907 and Nov 1908.
Photo looks like a standard pattern to me.

It's a shame it has been reblued. This will dent it's value somewhat. The rearsight is on backwards!

Thanks for all replies, it has helped so much with identification.

I now have to get some idea of it's sale value for the widow of a deceased shooter who wants to sell it.
