I think it will go on the SP280 if I take the opens off
What scope are you going for for the Longbow, Pete?

The Burris might well suit the 280 well, but I also feel they balance so nicely on opens that it would be a shame to "spoil" that balance and simplicity. And it's great to have a rifle (or ten!!!) on opens.

I think I can make a raiser for the front sight, it clamps onto a pair of grooves. There's a bit of ally in the garage that might do, looks like a job that can be done with a hacksaw and file.

Two small 4 mm thick pieces that are the length of the rails, and 10mm high, with two grooves filed out on the outsides at the top, two rebates on the insides at the bottom leaving a V to clamp the rails, drilled & threaded to take one or maybe two small bolts to tighten it onto the barrel rails should do it. Not ditching the diopter at this point, it's cost me more than the ruddy rifle !

    .
Be great to hear how it performs after its mild surgery and best of luck with the riser project.
