I reckon Wednesday evening or Thursday morning Tone. Can't wait to be honest. It was looking a bit iffy as my mum, who's nearly 90 is waiting for an imminent hip replacement op. She had her pre-op a week ago so could still technically be any time, but i'm keeping my fingers crossed to get to the bash without it clashing.

I hope those timings work out sympathetically for you, Mike, and also that your mum makes a full and swift recovery when she has the op.

I took the Ox out & put it next to the spring that came with the rifle.

The Ox has 34 coils, the other has 33, the ox is 267mm long (scragged) & the other is 255mm. There isn't much in it, the other spring is made of 3mm wire, so it's quite stout. The old spring is slightly bent too, I'm wondering if the spring that was in the rifle isn't the original spring, because it is also over sprung. There were no slip washers or preload spacers either, the spring guide is steel but it has to be because of what it sits on.

I'm thinking of taking an inch or more off the Ox & finding some suitable slip washers, if that doesn't work I might get a Titan spring, they have a more open coil, the N° 3 is 34 coils like the Ox but 304 mm long.

The problem is the small chamber, I want more power out of it for shooting at decent distances but not at the price of lots of recoil & twang.

On another topic, I found some Czech bud and an American IPA called "shipyard" in Lidl yesterday, yet to try them

It might also be an idea to have a look on the Mainspring Data Thread to see if any other likely candidates exist.

Personally, I wouldn't be chasing high power with the 50. It was never intended to be a powerhouse. Maybe go for a nice, sedate 9.5 - 10ft.lbs with less strain on the internals and much nicer cocking and firing cycle.

The Budweiser Budvar is a firm favourite of mine. Hope you like.

When I was enjoying sampling lots of IPAs, I also enjoyed the Shipyard. May have to re-visit again sometime.

I think Lidl should have the Greek Mythos lager in now; I really liked that when I last tried it.

But I'm also still enjoying the Carlsberg Pilsner (green can). When I first tried it a couple of years ago I didn't rate it. But when Lidl started to sell it very cheaply last year, I tried again. Got used to it and enjoy it now. My last pack was £9.99 for 18 x 440ml cans from Morrison's. Bargain!

Yeah, I think I will go with a Titan, I don't like how tight the coils are on the OX & I suspect it's going to be harsh. I put a Titan in my Hatsan & it's got a very pleasant soft cycle, I did need to take quite a few coils off because its .25 . The only difference is that's pushing a big heavy piston in the Hatty & the Originals piston is small & quite light.

My mk1 HW 97 had what I thought was an Ox in it, but putting it next to a real Ox I noticed that it's coils go the other way around, then someone told me that Weihrauch used square section springs at one point, which seems odd if it is the standard spring because it was almost coil bound when cocked.

Zeroing went well
The Leupold is a great scope
The Burris worked well but the rimfire reticle one the Leupold really brings out the best in the Longbow
The HW80 worked well too
I had the RAW HM1000 with me today as Debbie has seen a couple of rats in the garden
It didn't come out of the bag at the range though

First three shots though a chrono, and it's doing just under 4 ft/lbs, I think that will go up in time / with use.

Feels way smoother, with that power I doubt it's going to be able to blat bean cans at 45 yards like the 2240 can, but hoping it'll be good at murdering mints at closer ranges.

Did you check that the rear of the seal is smaller in diameter than the front , I found this to be a problem with the 22 mm Susie seal once fitted to the piston.

I was going to try the beers last night but ended up going out for an Indian, I was too stuffed after that for beer so opted for wine again I have seen that Mythos lager in lidls, they haven't got any atm, mind you the rate I'm accumulating beers at there'll be no room for rifles or even my HW45 in the car

Yep, having gone off those more "citrusy" IPAs, I'd probably now feel the same way about the Shipyard if I tried it again. I know you've struggled to come across it so far, but do keep that look out on for the Shepherd Neame one and that Marston's Old Empire - traditional strong English IPAs - lovely.

Glad you liked the Budvar. The Pilsner Urquell is a good one, too. And, with you liking the Budvar, it might be worth giving the Staropramen another try.
