I've just had a look on the JSR website and found Umarex Superdome and Hobby Sportline and they weigh similarly to the original ones. Does anyone know if these are rebranded RWS?
It looks like Redbeck's are showing RWS Hobbys in stock.

At this rate I'm going to need a small truck to haul all the .22 wadcutters back up north
I have some Bisley practice in .22, which are wadcutters, not tried them in the HW45, which now has the same red dot as my 2240 :
Just received my very first Airsporter, a Mk 3 in .22 flavour. Its been in bits for ages, has a new leather seal kit which I will lube & install before possibly going synthetic. Spring is bent & looking a bit crushed so I'll be trying an Ox spring in there. I see there is a top hat & guide available for the titan spring, which is tempting. Hopefully it will also have a nice period Tasco scope if I've solved the pp problems.
Hoping to have the Original Model 50 sorted for the bash as it seems incredibly accurate, Titan spring cut down to 31 coils.
Mmmmmmm......those Umarex Sportline Hobbys might well be the Hobby we've known and come to love. Just looking at the RWS selection on the JSR site, the selection does seem very small. I wonder if there is, indeed, a supply issue or breakdown with the relationship between shop and distributor?

I have, hoped to get the Original back together last night, but decided it needs a piston sleeve. I was going to use slip washers but then I won't be able to test the coil bound theory.
Airsporter looks promising, I always thought they were the top of the BSA range, somewhat surprised to find out that they often didn't make more than 9 ft/lbs. There is a very light rust in the chamber, I think a bit of oil & steel wool & then use the leather piston seal for a while. Need to get some Neatsfoot oil for the dry leather seal. Stock is in good condition but has been stripped & partially treated with something, looks like an oil, I want to use boiled linseed oil on it. It's got front & rear open sights too, looking forward to having ago with opens.
Those Airsporter plans sound good to me. Treating the comp chamber as described and then sticking with the leather seal to keep "polishing" the surface is a good idea. Who knows, you might then later decide to actually stick with that leather seal to retain more of the original character and feel? As you already have a few modern, synthetic sealed guns, I do think it's nice to have some more old school leather sealed ones for the contrast and variety.
P.S....I already have the feeling that you'll go the right way with the set-up, but I'd certainly be aiming at a nice, smooth, understressed feel at the expense of chasing higher powers out of these older guns.

I have just been on their site & bought a tin of Hobbys & re-stocked on H&N FTTs Thanks for the suggestion !
Just looked at a thread on an Airsporter that I'd left open in a tab, and apparently the thing to do for more umph is to longstroke it. Bet that requires a lathe at the very least and probably some rare arcane imperial thread only used by BSA and Sopwith on their WW1 Camel biplanes .

The correct equipment for lengthening the stroke is a Nick G or Jon B
