You can perform a DOS attack with a singular computer, you just use a script or programme that can mimic multiple users that keeps pinging a site, and if you've routed it through a VPN its near impossible to pinpoint where they actually are.

Not entirely sure how we can stop it tbh, you can IP ban but based on the Number that likely won't fix it nor will excluding a particular location as they'll just switch, Police won't help as they know they won't catch the culprit unless they pretty much fess up.
Theres also a limit to what you can do software wise as BBS runs on a really old platform, it does also seem a pointless thing to attack, you might get some details but they'd be useless for the most part, it also doesn't hamper the sponsors business so even the anti gun lot wouldn't gain much from it.

Not necessarily- the number of random attacks from Russia that are designed to disrupt and annoy, rather than get financial gain, are massively up as well lately. So a random edict from Putin to disrupt as many Western websites as possible could well have been a trigger. Doesn’t matter that in the grand scheme of things we are, in terms of national importance, not even on the scale. (Though obviously in the world of airguns we are…)
