Anyone using Hobbies in .22 past 15 yards or so?

I’ve used these in the past on squirrels at 17 yards if I remember correctly and they were absolutely devastating, I’ve noticed that they’re only £14ish a tin and if I could stretch them to 20yards in the garden they would make excellent rat medicine.

I’d be using a PCP so I’m guessing lower would be down a touch but I’m interested to know what velocity they’d produce in a PCP

In the old days when Eley wasps were the bench mark for airgun testing, Hobbys were the ones that gave the highest velocity because they were light weight and Barracudas at 21 grains were the slowest in velocity as they were heavy.
Hobbys are a great pellet but also accurate on par with a match pellet. Some shooters didn't like them for hunting as they were not pointy enough but their high velocity overcomes that and impact having a flat front.

I like Hobbies as a spring gun pellet and 25-30 yards is fine and a cheaper pellet you could try but dome head is H&N excite HAMMER .

Brilliant ratting pellets as long as your gun likes them of course, Ive used them out to 25yds through my rapid at 9ftlb to devastating effect, my springers dont seem to like them at all

I keep my range down to 15yds but find they are accurate enough up to 20yds

just shoot them at paper at 20 yards... if they are 1/2" groups or less, use them.

probably the best all round pellets you can buy,if I have a rifle or pistol not shooting well hobbys often solve the problem

I love the Hobby. I've used them since about 1978 and they've always delivered, especially for shorter range use and ratting. However, they're much more than that......I use them exclusively in my old, beaten-up BSA Supersport and they shine, even at longer ranges. And I've witnessed two fine chaps picking off little duck silhouette targets at Boinger Bash events very effectively at 75 yards. If your barrel likes them, use them with confidence.

Just checked, out of stock from JSR, both aren’t including shipping though. I’ve ordered a sample pack of the bay and if my barrel likes them I might just get one tin so I wouldn’t get the benefit of a bulk order.

I find uttings to be very good for ordering sleeves though

Many years ago I was advised by an experienced shooter to only use Hobby's in my Crosman 600, and have done ever since without problem.

JSR is good on sleeves too, but Uttings carriage for my sleeve of H & N Excites last week was only £6, so £4 a tin dleivered.

Just also remembered.....at the last Bash that was held at Quigley Hollow, the Halloween Bash in 2019, we had a pumpkin set out at 30 yards (ish). This provided much amusement for many and that Supersport with the .22 Hobbys was taking big chunks out of it to some very entertaining "thwocking and thwacking" sounds. Great fun!

I used Hobby out of the HW35 in .22 over 40yrs ago in .22 and in FWB 124 .177.
Today, i still shoot Hobby out of a HW35 but use JSB Express in the FWB 124.
30yd is my limit for live shooting with springers
and a .22 Hobby is both accurate and deadly up to
that range.
