That is good info mate.
I have a Webley Mk3 where the lettering paint has gone so I will definitely try using the Plastikote' brand stove paint.
Couldn't t help myself and have ended up with all three versions of the Webley Mk6 replica CO2 revolvers.
Mine have the excellent factory antique finish - apart from a load of dreadful white writing on one side that gives: Calibre, serial number, proof mark, and says 'WARNING: BEFORE USING READ OWNER' S MANUAL AVAILABLE FREE FROM WWW.WEBLEY.CO.UK, MADE IN TAIWAN'.
First purchase I tried to remove it but it won't budge, so considered various options for covering it over, including, black marker pen and modelling paint, but all these stood out like a sore thumb and had to be wiped back off using iso-prop alcohol.
But black stove paint covers the lettering perfectly and leaves a finish that is virtually indistinguishable from the factory antique finish. I first wiped the area with some iso-prop alcohol, then used 'Plastikote' brand stove paint which comes in a 400ml spray can. Sprayed some onto a jam jar lid then dabbed over the lettering using a cotton wool bud. Once dry, repeat, but this time carefully blended the surrounding area with the antique finish by dabbing more lightly.
This type of paint is heat reactive so I left it in the sun on a hot day, its set nicely and I'm delighted with the results.
Hope this helps others successfully cover this horrible white writing,
Ed
