Look what I found; Diana LP8 magnums in .22

Found myself a set of .22 diana lp8 magnums on egun. Theyre quite rare to find. Not made long I think. I already have the LP8 in 4.5 as well as the Tactical (with stock) in 4.5.
One of the .22s was literally all over covered in oilTo preserve? I may have to disassemble to clean it out.
Even the box it came in was oilstained. And on 1 an idiot tried to paint in the diana logo at the back with blue ink have to sort that too. Its already better now ( brakecleaner).
One Im gonna keep as a pistol one is gonna be converted to carbine with a Rink shoulderstock. Takes few months to get that stock though, they are made to order.
First results with the .22s. First one still very slippery despite degreasing the grip multiple times. It didnt diesel but slowburned and smelled like hell and gave some whitish scum at barrel end and transferport. Prob oil. After quite some shots it started to group. The other one shot like crazy really. Smallest group I ever shot with a springpistol. 4 shots, literally 1 hole. I checked the pistols barrel several times to check there wasnt a pellet stuck in there. But I already knew from the results with the Tactical at 25m these are amazingly accurate. As you look closer this hole is shiny too ( oil). But Ill keep it as is as it shoots so well.
Shot 2 handed about 5 yards. Jsb exact and jsb rs. Last group is 10 shots with regular jsb.

    Very nice!

I bought my uncle one as a present, if I remember correctly about 20 years ago - he moved area, stopped shooting and gave it away. It was just about the only spring pistol that I could shoot nicely and I remember it far out performing the Tempest and a HW45 that I owned.

The first LP8 was made in 2008 iirc. Yes itll outperform the Tempest. Totally different beast. It outperforms my LP5 magnums at the moment as well.
Its also much more forgiving and easier to shoot that its .177 LP8 magnum sister.

I bought one new in 2015. Construction was cheap and the trigger was truly awful being both heavy and unpredictable. Sold it after a fortnight.

Triggers of the newer ones do tend to have a tiny bit of creep or something. Gets better after use though. Otherwise, cant complain.
The LP8 is cheaper construction than its precursor, the LP5 magnum. But its amazingly accurate. At 25m, the groups )(rested, reddot) are just as good as with a standard rifle. So I forgave them their construction

Tried some different pellets this afternoon. Just for fun, I know its favorite is jsb exact. But whatever I put in it, I wasnt disappointed. Wether it was baracuda, jsb heavy (did very well last card), bara 15, jsb hades, meisterkugeln, ftt...Never had a pistol thats so easy to shoot and so easy on pellet choice. My .177 LP8 magnum, webley tempest, typhoon, hurricane, diana LP5 magnum are different beasts. Much more picky. And yes, it still smokes and smells like hell.

    Thanks.

Tnx. No doubt they can be ordered in the UK if you ask a gunshop. SWS stocks them as well. Dunno if they still sent to the uk though.

Not too taken by the LP8, but regret not getting an LP5 Magnum when they were available. Would like to compare them to the standard LP5/5G, BSA Scorpion and Webley Hurricane.

I have the LP5 magnum as well. Its better built than the LP8, better trigger, but LP8 is much easier to shoot (the .22 anyway).
Hurricane doesnt come near the LP5 magnum. Power or accuracy wise. I have a Hurricane as well.

Just received my Rink shoulderstock for my Diana lp8 magnum .22. Walnut deluxe iirc. Already have an original lp8 magnum tactical 4.5mm but the tactical version wasnt made in .22 so had to convert it myself. Original Diana reddot will be fitted. Nice But first the .22 is goin to be overhauled. I noticed the barrel lockup was quite weak. Much weaker than the LP8 4.5 or LP8 tacticals I bought new. The excessive smoking can also be solved at the same time. Will come back as new.
