And of those lovely rifles.......
Foby's were all excellent.......Nick Simmons fettled Omegas, Tomahawk and 77 were utterly sublime. Fine examples of a master tuner's art.
Dan's two Weihrauchs with the Vortek bits, as previously mentioned, were very, very nice. Possibly the 35 impressing the most as it delivered it's wonderfully refined cycle in standard 30mm guise. Sounds like the Vortek spring is short and stiff, along the lines of the Venom / V-Mach ones, with Dan reporting only a whisker of spring protruding from the cylinder prior to screwing down the end block. Lovely.
Terry's Air King, as expected, delivered that almost not-believable sensation of "you know it's a springer and there's stuff going on in there" coupled with no recoil or vibration transmitted to the shooter. Lovely.
The little Cricket was a fine little thing. Short, squat, light, oozing excellent build and like a laser.
But you know what? And I've said it so many times before that I'm sounding like a stuck record......the little HW30 that Terry bought from Baldinio. These little stunners just never cease to amaze. It's a springer and there's stuff going on inside. The rifle is compact, light and cocking effort ridiculously low. The cycle feels better than any "super-tuned 12ft.lbs mega gun" and it's basically PCP easy in terms of point, squeeze, hit with no drama. I love these little guns. Must play with mine more. If you don't need to hunt at longer ranges or shoot FT in windy conditions, this rifle will do it all. Awesome!
