    Isit or isnt it?

Morning Gents hope I find you all well.
Heres a question . When do airguns become eligible to come into this which in my opinion is the most interesting bit of the forum?

My latest little plaything to get going is a Daystate LR90, it was sat in a wardrobe for years and the guy who owned it tried to shoot it and said GAH its run out of air I am going to dispose of it, so I made the job easier and disposed it in my direction with a small remittance back in his direction.

My quandary comes because now I have it I can find very little info on it, no spares and no schematic drawing online to give me a clue what to expect when I get inside it.

So, is this gun a collectable, other than of course to a Daystate collector, I did find that its probably from the early 1990's.

    Regards Martini

I guess anything you want to acquire and is no longer in production can be considered as collectable, so the LR90 fits the bill.

The LR90 was Josie's first PCP and I remember it having a lovely swan neck cocking bolt. We visited the Daystate factory after buying a new stock and having it fitted by Daystate. They even gave us a tour!

Currently looking for Baikal Makarov pistols with the following prefixes to the serial number: 98, T01, T09, T21, T22
Prefer boxed or cased but will consider loose examples too.

I would consider the LR90 definitely a collectable. It's one of my favorite rifles and it's going no where. It will be passed down and kept in the family. Mine came with a standard beech stock but included a factory walnut one too as well as the optional swan neck bolt. Rifle and both stocks are near perfect but it's the small size and simple design that stands out to me. Excellent choice for adults and youngsters. Mine is in .22 cal but shoots like a .177 target gun and I wouldn't be afraid to use it in FT at less formal matches. It's really that accurate and it's unregulated. Also has an outstanding trigger and holds zero incredibly well. While not as air efficient as my newer guns it still puts a lot of my more modern ones to shame and that all steel construction, amazing fit and finish and beautiful bluing is something that is pretty much a thing of the past. I'm not an air gun smith by any means yet I was able to rebuild mine myself by just taking my time. Really wasn't complicated at all but if you don't feel up to it the rifle is certainly worth paying an expert to do it. They seem to be very hard to come by where I live.

    Very nice Gun

I sat and looked at the schematic on Bagnall and Kirkwood to ensure I found no surprises when I got inside the gun, what a lovely piece of engineering.
I contacted all the usual places to try for spares and on stripping it I noticed the hammer spring looked very out of place and exceptionally rough considering the rest of the engineering, the ends of the spring had no closed coil and were not flatted, anyway the usual shops and online stores said pre takeover Daystate spares are exceptionally hard to come by.
So I grasped the bull by the horns and emailed Daystate asking for advice on where to get spares, Rachael who answered my email was very very helpful and asked around the workshop for spares and found they had the spring I needed and said yes they would post out to me.
The spring on arrival looked so different to what was already in there I thought I had mistakenly quoted the wrong gun name it was so different anyhow I tried it in and it fitted so I boxed the lot back up to test shoot, wow what a lovely gun this is, now set at 10.8Ft/ld and shooting very consistently.
Thanks for the help and comments and for making this an interesting conversation.
