Beeman collection pics in one place (thousands of vintage airguns)

I have completed my dump of pics from the Beeman collection into the gallery. Each auction is preceded by an index of the lots (click twice to enlarge it) and in time I'll add the full catalogue too.

Lots of vintage models (like prewar BSAs) are missing. Have I missed them (Citizen K [RIP] helped too when he was still with us) or is Rock Island Auctions holding them back?

Anyway, it really show how vast the Beeman collection was and what a multi-millionaire collector with a passion (obsession? ) can amass.

John Atkins recalls that canny British collectors would sell on their unwanted airguns to Beeman and that such was his thirst for collectables he would often buy at a distance on the basis of a poor photograph (a "smudge" John says).

The sheer number of images meant I couldn't post them at very high resolution, so if you want better detail, go to the RIA website. Eventually I hope to have all the interesting guns posted elsewhere in the gallery.

    Enjoy!

Been an interesting time as RIA rolled out the Beeman collection. I think John Atkins could have very well been correct. Heard from collectors being cautious about some of guns conditions. I think he was collector and not as concerned about function. I know I had to repair a pistol I bought. I think Ingvar Alm’s collection was maybe a better one. Not as massive but he seemed to like to have guns that worked?

That's a pretty amazing assemblage of guns Danny. I remember one of he Anson Fireflys Beeman had being little more than a relic. Did he ever finish the book he was writing on the Girardoni?

He had finished the first draft and was sorting out photographs and editing chapters when he had to stop due to ill health. I had helped him with one of the chapters and I still have the draft, and judging from that, the book promised to be something very special. As far as I know, no one has taken on the task of completing the book, so sadly it seems that the venture has died with him.
