Maybe makers should advise lead purity or lead and its antimony content.

Certainly anything hunting, I prefer softer lead and less antimony.

    Too many factors 😔

Even changing head size can change group from a gnats arse to a monsoon drencher shower head

How do the heavies perform , have you tried them, 9.56 aren't they ?
I've been left astonished by the QYS Streamlined pellets. Both my P15 and HW100 love the 9.56gr. Just zeroed the HW100 on Wednesday, 5 shot, single hole at 30 yards from the Hw100k rested.

Both these guns also really like Baracuda Match 10.65gr, I've noticed both the QYS and the Baracuda are hard to tell apart. The QYS just has the edge over the Baracuda with the HW100. The P15 groups pretty much identical with either.

My HW44 prefers the regular weight version, second best, again is Baracuda Match.

    All are 4.50

What would you say is the distance of “drop” on the target at 30 yards using the heavier QYS pellet as opposed to the lighter 8.48 grn ?

I actually kept one of the targets which one group of each, measures at about 4mm difference.

The group was still good with the lighter pellets, about 10mm, but cloverleaf on that card with the heavier ones, better on other cards. I can send you a pic on what's app if you want to pm me your number.

The 9.56gr lost stability in my gun around 40yards

That all sounds very promising and well worth a try out !

    Thanks.

I was in SGC again yesterday collecting up a Moderator I ordered. Picked up a couple tins of the heavy domed and streamlined as I remembered this time. I'll give them a try as soon as I can get the chance

Had a bit of a play this afternoon. First off thought I'd weigh 2 full tins of the standard vs heavy, just to make sure they actually are. The tin of heaves are only 40 grams (not grains) heavier.

There was only a light breeze in the air so fairly good conditions for a test. As you would expect the POI is lower with the heavies, I adjusted up 2 MOA (8 clicks) If I was going for full zero I may need to come up slightly more but for testing I like to have an offset so I can keep the point I'm aiming at clear.

On the pic below you can see my hits at 40 yards. Domed heavy on the left and Streamline heavy on the right, full magazine of each. The results are pretty much the same as they were for the standard weight versions of each. For reference the red dot in centre target is same size as a 5p coin.

It's hard to declare a clear winner both are probably just over a 5p group at 40 yards. Both had a flier with the domed one being a bit further away from the group. Again same sort of results I got with the standard weight versions. Maybe on a day with a bit more wind the heavy's would maintain a tighter group and be a bit more hard hitting for the hunters.

Edit* forgot to mention the rig. FX DRS .177, Nightforce SHV Scope & SAK moderator.

Good test there, particularly at 40 yards and a decent grouping outdoors.
I had thought about the wind factor for outdoor shooting in relation to the heavies and lets say, if your particular air rifle likes them, that's what I'd go for !

I'll try the heavy Slipstreams in my .177 Springers.

    Well done !

QYS domes in my New FWB Sport are more consistent and just outshoot AADFs.

Haven't tried the Streamlined. If the weight is the same what is the difference between them and the domes?

Streamlined are very similar shape to H&N Baracuda Match

In terms of performance, not a lot in my experience !

Had another go the other day, this time with the rifle on the gunvise to keep it stable as possible. Was able to get some better groups at 40 yds with the heavy QYS:

    S&W M&P 1522 - Anschutz 1417 - Beretta SP3 - Browning Maxus 2 - Fabarm Elos N2 - Feinwerkbau 800 - Daystate Wolverine R - HW100KTLA - Steyr Pro-X - Steyr LG1 - Walther LGM-2

    nice results.
Seems these are both 9.56 grain but with just minor difference in shape / skirt profile. Anyone got any ballisitc data ? I'd be surprised if there was a major difference.
Are there any other differences I'm missing, e.g. lead alloy/antimony content ?

Edit found this for the streamlined from an old post from Brian:
"So the average BC I got today ( 22 degrees C, relative humidity 48%, 1012mb, GA drag profile assumed) = 0.0229
In my Anshutz 9015 - MV was an average of 735fps, downrange ( 45 yards ) average velocity was 575fps."
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

    Great results there !
Doesn’t appear to be much to choose between the Domed and the Streamlined in terms of accuracy and grouping!
