    1984 Diana Model 26

I've been offered the chance to pick up one of these in .177. I don't really know much about the model aside from its year of introduction(1984) along with the 28 and 34 models. I've heard referenced skinny tube and fat tube which I'm assuming refersto the piston diameter of the 26 and 28.Exactly what diameter of piston did the earliest examples of both the Model 26 and Model 28 have? Whatever diameter the first versions had were eventually changed into the longstanding 28MM that we now equate with Diana. I was also wondering about the trigger. Was it the renown 3 ball sear comprised of separate components or a newer modular version since morphed into the T series as we know it. I do love my Diana 27 and was wondering how the 26 would compare. Any help or insight would be much appreciated

The early 26 had a 25mm diameter piston and a simple single stage non adjustable trigger. They are nice guns to shoot. The trigger is nowhere near the 3 ball in your 27 but if it's well shot in or fettled they are decent and good accuracy can be achieved.
I would certainly go ahead and buy it.

I've only spotted one for sale down the years and i managed to buy it. I would say its of the spec mentioned by Drew above, but i have to admit I've done little with it and as such know little of it.

    Buy it

Do you fellas have any idea of power output or factory advertised velocity?

Velocity was listed as 655fps in .177 cal. This was likely with RWS Hobby pellets as Diana's were usually factory tested with them.
I would be tempted to try various RWS pellets in the 26, lighter wadcutters especially.

I was hoping there might be an owner out there that could give me some chrono info on a 26 if possible. I've currently got an old leather sealed HW30 that does 680fps with JSB 7.3 pellets and was hoping that a Mod 26 could at least match it

Thank you so much Dave, I'm very curious, as I'm considering trading an extremely nice Winchester 427 for it and some cash..Ken

    Good evening Ken.
So my memory is not what it used to be and having retrieved the gun from the racks i have realised its actually an RWS badged gun dated 06 84 as far as my tired eyes can tell. Its possible i may have read this as 88 when i initially bought gun as the date stamp is not the best. But im confident on the 06 84.
The gun smoked a little on use earlier. I put about five warm up shots through it but it never really settled so I'm less sure the results are representative of the guns performance. I only put 5 shots through it with H&N FTTs and these were 519,523,514,508,504 which with the pellets at a stated (on tin) weight of 14.66 grains gives c8.6 ft llbs.
Hope this is of use to you. Oh and i didn't measure the tube but can see its definitely the skinny flavour.
    Dave
