    Huma Regulator for BSA Scorpion

I’m thinking about one of these, any opinions or experiences? Mine is a standard ‘short’ Scorpion, it’s very accurate but I’m a bit wary of the ‘sweet spot’ so thought to get it regged.

I’ve just bought a second hand scorpion se in .22 caliber. I’m also thinking of fitting a regulator from Robert Lane regulators. First I’m going to fill to 200 bar and shoot down to 100 bar and see what the total spread is over the string. I’ve also heard that sorting out the hammer bounce is well worth doing.

For BSA guns get a Tench regulator. Sold through Rat Works nowadays.
Someone said house work wont kill you, but I say 'why take that chance'

I just got a secondhand one so I need to service it then fit it. I’m a bit scared of taking a PCP to pieces tbh. My first series Scorpion is super accurate but has a relatively low shot count so sweet spot is limited.

I’ve just done a 60 shot string on my scorpion se, and tbh I’m a bit disappointed. It was filled to 3000 psi and only got 56 shots out before it started to drop off, a total of 60 shots from 214 bar down to 100 bar???

I think my standard .177 Scorpion does similar to that, there was a 'full length' Scorpion which might do more but I have never seen one.

I guess a regulator could help a bit, maybe try a Tench one they seem to be the ones for BSAs ... I havent fitted my Huma on yet.

This is the .22 scorpion with the 250mm air cylinder, so should manage at least 70 shots before dropping off.
From 214 bar down to 100 bar each shot was using more than 1.9 bar per shot. This would indicate that it’s using far too much air per shot!!!!!!

I've regged a couple of Scorpion SE's and they've been great

Not sure whether the early variant takes the same reg as the SE, which simply replaces the part behind the reg banjo.

If it doesn't, you'd need an external reg, which may lengthen the cylinder and you may end up needing a barrel extension to use a mod

In any event, you'll need a bigger TP and sifter hammer spring, to set it up properly

    Surely 3000psi is 206bar not 214bar ? 1bar = 14.5psi ?

Have you tested to find the most efficient pellet ? what pellet weight & ME ?

From the spec's it should be .177-65, .22-100, .25-100, from I assume a 230bar fill although that is not stated.

I have a old mmc .177 Ultra and Tench fitted his reg for me and doubled the shot count to 60 , the standard fill is 230 bar without a reg and 250 bar with reg, also lightening the hammer and then the blast tamer which can increase shot count by a good bit even without a reg as in standard trim they tend to bounce as is known as "hammer fart"

Yes your ded right 3000 psi is only 206 bar, I will have to recalculate and start again.
    Many thanks again
