    Thoughts on a HW75

I’ve been looking at getting an HW75 for some time due to single stroke pneumatic action being recoiless.

I have had a HW45 for some time and plinking down the farm ain’t as fun as it could be as it needs a few shots to get your eye in, then sometimes I’d be better with a stone or a horseshoe.

Any one got a HW75 that can shed some light as not much in way of reviews on the Tube.

If it's looks that drew you to the HW45 go for a HW75

Otherwise for a third of the price go for the HW40.... lighter, better trigger
    TX200 .177 21mm TL | HW80SLK .22 | HW35 .177 | Sneaky HW100 (or 2)
HW40 | HW45 | Diana Mod5 | Webley Senior....... Because PCP is like kissing your sister (apparently)

The HW75 is a cracking pistol. Obviously a bit beefy. A handful. Very capable of putting in decent scores at 10m. Power isn't much but I still twice took the SARPA Long range(25m) pistol trophy with mine in the late '90s. Trigger can be adjusted to a very very light single stage. Mine was before all the white safety blurb on the action and before fibre optic sights.

Looks good, very accurate, but mind-numbingly boring to shoot! My first ssp was a Webley Nemesis back in the day. I hated that too, and every one of that ilk I’ve shot in the meantime.

A cheaper hw40 clone might get it out of your system if you’re unsure

Have you considered the Sig Sauer ASP Super Target? It's made by Chiappa and has the same trigger as the FAS 604.
    Also the same build quality.

pretty much as everyone else had said. Accurate, great trigger, solid & purposeful.

In comparison, the HW40 I find has a slightly higher cocking effort, and just doesn't feel as serious, but it's also a great pistol for a lot less £££. Then again the clone Beeman P17 is also decent for a fraction of the price.

But as above, all the SSPs are pretty boring to shoot ! the HW45 is far more fun.. challenging, for sure, but far more rewarding as a result.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

Just buy a Beeman p17 and have done with it.

The HW45 is the best pistol but you need a TBT kit & an Aussie piston seal in there .

Failing that get a Crosman 2240, right up to the power limit & no recoil, & rips tins to bits, even at 40 yards.

This is nice to hear, I have a Stiga trap from early 80’s from my family in Sweden, could use this indoors at home here, as I’m in the centre of town garden plinking is not an option by the river here.

Pretty much going with the general consensus......I don't own the 75 but have tried them. Beautiful. Very accurate and also very easy to extract that accuracy from. But expensive. The HW40 that I do own is also superbly accurate and lots cheaper.

If you think that the recoilless delivery might prove a bit too easy, it might be worth pursuing the possibility of a HW70.......there's a thread on them in the Pistols section. I had previously been led to believe that they had stopped making them. But it looks like that isn't the case, just that HC don't bring them in......A traditional break barrel design. Very, very soft recoil makes it a much more forgiving proposition than the HW45, so tight groups come easily, but this little gem has more character than the SSPs. Definitely worth a look and seeing if your RFD can convince HC to bring some in. Check out various YouTube reviews - like the German Air Ghandi site where he tests lots of HWs.

Here's one of the Air Ghandi HW70 videos. HW45 and many, many more Weihrauchs tested too.

Not really a "pistol person" but I've thought that maybe I could get along with a HW 75.
Owned a nice Silver Star once but it deiselled and sort of leaked oil which put me off it.
Occasionally I've mused on the Bronze Star but memories of the SS put me off.

Wouldn't mind a Chip. Fas 604 but it'll never happen.

My local shop has the HW40 and can order the 75, spose I could see the HW40 and I know that I would not buy any fly fishing tackle or fly tying kit whilst there as I more than enough for many lifetimes, and the shop is only a couple of miles from the house. Though another shop has the HW75, but that’s a horrible drive away.
There was a man in there the last time I was there picking up the new 95 and he was fitting a red dot sight to what I think was the long forgotten Carreer 707 gun. Never seen one before and would like to never see one again.

Not a fan. Nice pistol, but expensive and not a real target pistol. Prefer the 45.

If you want an SSP, look at the older FAS604 (not the new 6004), or, as others have said, the HW40/P17. Or Gamo P45 and Compact.

If you want a recoilless spring target pistol, try a Diana 6 or 10, or an FWB 65/80.

If you want a very rewarding (when you get it right) challenge, I recommend a BSA Scorpion.
