Some guidance on purchasing a7yd target air rifle

Good morning learned gentlemen. I was after some guidance for likely sources of starter 7yd target air rifles. Having sold an FWB300 that I had rebuilt as a project some 5 years ago, I'd not bothered with any target related stuff, apart from having a blast at home with my old BSA Imp Mod D. However, I've found there is an active winter league within my home county and I've dipped my toe in the water and enjoyed it! So, club rifles aside, I'm going to look for a target rifle. Now I'm not averse to spring, SSP, or pcp, but I can't really see me spending close to a grand for a starter set up, so I'd welcome some advise on outlets that people have successfully used in the past.

I know, I'd planned that for a little later, when I'm a little more into it. I'd also need to take a coil off the spring, as I'm sure it's doing about 7.5ft/lbs

I was thinking FWB 600 series SSP, or something similar. I did see the ad' for the Diana 100, but was put off by spares availability.

    What's wrong with another 300S ?
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

I was going to mention one of Mick’s 600 series FWB’s after having a brief go with one on the bell target at the Boinger Bash a good few years back.
I was most impressed with the gun..

John, I'd not overlook a replacement FWB300. However, some of the pricing (more so through RFD's) is a bit tasty.

Pop down to Kempton, always a couple there, circa £300

TBH John, having perused 2nd hand ad's, I was coming to that conclusion. I could sell a couple from my collection to supplement the purchase as well.

An Original 75 or 66 would be worth looking out for

I have a new BSA Ultra JSR .177 6 ft.lbs. for sale at £250. Quality rifle, they have a shorter stock for juveniles which I have not found to be a problem.

Well, attended the club last night and I struck lucky! Looks like I could be the new owner of an FWB 300 shortly.

Thanks for all of your input gentlemen

Indeed, the 75 or 66 would have been very worthy contenders.

    But excellent result, Mark. Enjoy.
